Senapati, October 25 2016:
Theiva Baptist Church, Senapati, has charged Poumai Naga Baptist Association (PNBA) and Poumai Naga Union (PNU) of attempting to turn Theiva Baptist Church into Poumai Baptist Church.
Theiva Baptist Church, in a statement issued by its Pastor K Peter and Church secretary R Ngalangzar, said about 60 to 70 volunteers of PNBA and PNU came to Theiva village on October 23, with the intention to convert Theiva Baptist Church into Poumai Baptist Church.
To avert trouble, the villagers and Church members stayed away from attending their regular Sunday worship and had the Church building locked, it alleged.
Members of the PNBA and PNU gathered at the porch of the Church building and had a Poumai person installed as the Pastor of the Church.
They also had a sign nailed on the Church door that read : "Till the case is solved, no one should open or make use of the Church building" .
Theiva Baptist Church has urged authorities concerned to look into the matter.
