6th phase of Go Green Mission launched

The sixth phase of Go Green Mission organised by the Senapati district administration and Maram Karalimei Swijoikang (Maram students union) was launched today at the Senapati Mini secretariat complex multi purpose hall.
The mission, which was first introduced in 2009, is an environmental awareness cum mass tree plantation campaign.
The programme was presided by Jascintha Lazurus, DC Senapati as chief guest and Naga Peoples' Organisation's president ML Markson as guest of honour.
The event was also attended by leaders of the district students union - ANSAM, ATSUM, SDSA and Poumai Naga Students Union.
The event hosted a school level painting competition and an essay competition for college students.
The Go Green Mission, which is to function from July 28 onwards, will be planting trees in the surrounding area of schools and market places and on barren lands alongside the highway.
President Pungdi P Celestine, Maram Students Union underlined the main objective of the mission.
He said the mission is solely introduced in a hope to reduce the the rate of ozone depletion.
Also, Jaschintha Lazarus and others attending the event planted tree in the surrounding areas of the hall as part of the programme.
