Imphal, June 25 2013: As per a resolution adopted during a meeting held today at the residence of Molnoi chief, the Kuki and Naga Village chiefs and chairmen (Khullakpa) of Tengnoupal and Machi block of Chandel district have called an indefinite Chandel district bandh with effect from midnight of June 26 .

A meeting was held today pertaining to non-release of funds under MGNREGS (wages and material component) by the Programme Officer of MGNREGS of Tengnoupal and Machi blocks in collusion with members of ADC.

In the meeting, the village chiefs and chairmen also strongly decried the fake press statement published in the local dailies on June 23 in the name of Tengnoupal Block Kuki Chiefs' Association by some unscrupulous elements.

The meeting also unanimously resolved to identify and punish the persons who are responsible for issuing the fake press statement in the name of KCA Tengnoupal Block without the knowledge of the concerned authority at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that the joint Kuki and Naga village chiefs and chairmen strongly opposed implementation of 25% of MGNREGS fund by the ADC members.
