AR organises lecture, tree plantation drive as part of Jal Shakti Abhiyan

Chandel, October 24 2019: Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a lecture and plantation drive at Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Pallel in Kakching district yesterday.

To create awareness about water conservation and rain water harvesting, the lecture was conducted as a part of Jal Shakti Abhiyan Phase -II, said a press release issued by PRO, IGAR.

Students of Assam Rifles Public School were provided with information regarding Jal Shakti Abhiyan in which they were introduced to the methods of water conservation, rain water harvesting and rejuvenating water bodies.

The students were sensitized about their role in protecting environment from degradation and how important they are in the process.

After the lecture, a plantation drive was organised jointly by troops of Assam Rifles and the students of ARPS where 100 saplings were planted at the school premises.

All the students, teachers and staff of the school actively participated in the plantation drive and pledged to improve the ecology and environment, it said.

The teachers and students of ARPS, Pallel expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for conduct of such informative lectures.
