Social service, tree plantation drive held

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada (September 15 to October 2) organised by NSS and IQAC of Lilong Haoreibi College, a cleanliness drive/ social service was successfully carried out today in the College campus.
Teaching & non-teaching staff, local guardian and student union of the College along with members of Hangamthabi Youth Club, Ushoipokpi Welfare Organisation and Chingkham Mamang Youth Development Organisation participated in the cleanliness drive/ social service.
Lilong Thoubal Municipal Council, E.O M, Rajen and Lilong PS, O.C, N Tiken also took part in the cleanliness drive.

It may be mentioned that Lilong Haoreibi College will also be organising various activities including Recitation, Extempore Speech, Slogan & Painting Competitions on the theme of Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada, "Garbage Free India" and winners of the competitions will be awarded on October 2, 2023 .
Similarly, the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign was also held today at Srivan Higher Secondary School, Luwangsangbam under the theme, "Garbage Free India" .
Students of the Srivan Higher Secondary School led by its Principal, I Usharani Devi carried out social service in the school campus.
Students also collected waste materials including plastic bottles from Khabam Lamkhai Keithel and nearby areas.
Speaking to the media, Usharani shared that plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues, as rapidly increasing production of disposable plastic products overwhelms the world's ability to deal with them.
She appealed to the public to reduce the use of plastic items and support the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign launched by the Government of India to create a clean and healthy India.
Moreover, in continuation of the tree plantation drive conducted under the supervision of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, OC, Shougrakpam Chandrakumar, about 500 tree saplings were planted today along the Nongpok Sekmai Road.
182 Bn BSF Alpha Company along with women folk and local clubs of the area took part in the plantation drive.
