Fair election of SHDC Chairman demanded

The ex-Chairman of Sadar Hills District Council (SHDC) has appealed to all concerned to conduct the election to the Chairman of SHDC in a free and fair manner.
Addressing media persons at Hotel Imphal here today, SH Seipu, ex-Chairman of SHDC has alleged that the Vice Chairman of SHDC has forcefully taken over seven members of the council under his custody and they are currently camping at Saikul.
While another 16 members moved a no confidence motion against the Chairman.
Accordingly, there was also a meeting in connection with the motion moved at the District Council House, Chingmeirong yesterday, he informed.
Seipu further informed that among the list of signatories to the no confidence motion, seven of them have been made to sign forcefully and they are currently being camped at Saikul.
They are being guarded by KRA cadres.
With the no confidence motion moved by 16 members of SHDC, there is no Chairman of SHDC at present, he added.
