Manipur National Institute of Open Schooling, SCERT lays down amended rule

State Coordinator, Manipur National Institute of Open Schooling, SCERT campus, Lamphel, in a press release, conveyed that the Government of India has extended the last date for obtaining the essential qualification, Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) up to May 31, 2019 as per the amendment to the section 23(2) of the RTE Act.
It stated that untrained in-service elementary teachers in the Govt/ Govt aided/unaided private schools have to obtain the required qualifications by March 31 to impart quality education at Elementary level of school education.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of HRD, GoI has been assigned with the training of these untrained in-service teachers (Govt/private) under DElEd programme by the Department of School Education & Literacy (SE&L), Ministry of Human Resources Development.
The Diploma in Elementary Education programme through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode has been designed and developed by NIOS and recognised by NCTE for the untrained in-service teachers at the elementary level, it added.
The press statement further stated that the programme was launched by Minister for Human Resources and Development on October 3, 2017.The entire training programme was concluded at a record time of 18 months and was conducted at 12000 study centres, which includes DIETs, TEIs, CBSE and State govt affiliated schools, across the country with the help of the State Government.
The NIOS has already conducted five phases of public examination and the final result has been declared by HRM yesterday.
In all, 12,11,740 teachers registered for DElEd prog form all over the country and 11,98,614 teachers appeared for the exam, it said adding that 9,58,513 teachers passed.
The candidates can view and download the result of DElEd programme from NIOS website "www.nios.ac.in" and "www.dled.nios.ac.in" .
They can collect the documents from the respective regional centres of NIOS, added the statement.
