Cabinet authorises ULBs to function beyond end of term

Imphal, November 22 2021: The State Cabinet has authorised Corporators and Councillors of 26 Urban Local Bodies including Imphal Municipal Corporation to discharge duties even after the expiration of their term.

The resolution was taken during a Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister N Biren Singh at his office today.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Works Minister Th Bishwajit stated that the meeting has also agreed to rename the Revenue Department of the State as Land Resources Department and raise the pension amount of the Widows Pension Scheme from the existing Rs 200 to Rs 500 per month.

The meeting resolved to increase the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers by Rs 1,000 and Rs 600 respectively, the Minister said, adding that honorarium of ASHA workers will also be increased by Rs 1,000.The Cabinet has also decided to give a post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to ace footballer Oinam Bembem who was conferred Padma Shri award recently and the rank of Inspector in Manipur police to boxer K Sarjubala, he added.
