Imphal, October 22 2020:
A three-member enquiry committee headed by Additional Director (Health) Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang would probe into the death of a COVID-19 positive woman on October 14 .
Family members have been contending that the woman died because RIMS doctors did not attend to her when she was taken to the hospital on October 12 as she complained of abdominal pain apart from vomiting more than once.
Demanding a thorough enquiry, the family has been refusing to claim the dead body since then.
Secretariat (Health Department) issued an order last evening whereby an enquiry committee headed by Additional Director (Health) Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang and comprising of one Forensic Medicine doctor and an officer not below the rank of SDO as members was constituted to investigate the controversial death.
The committee would enquire if there was any negligence or medical lapses on the part of RIMS which led to the death of the woman.
The committee shall conduct spot enquiry wherever necessary in RIMS and submit its report at the earliest.
The woman identified as Salu Chhettri of Kanglatongbi (temporarily residing at Thangmeiband) died at the COVID Care Centre opened at IIIT Mantripukhri on October 14 .
