Imphal, June 22 2011:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) and All Manipur United Club (AMUCO) strongly reacted to the quit notice served to Meeteis residing/staying in hill districts of Manipur by a group called "Naga Crusader" which appeared in the Nagaland Post.
UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar queried on the stand of other communities, other than Meeteis on the issue.
He was briefing reporters at the UCM office at Lamphelpat.
He said that UCM will continue to work for harmony among the different communities co-existing in the state and appealed to the people to take care of communal propaganda.
The UCM president, reacting to yesterday's cabinet decision regarding holding of tripartite talks between GoI, GoM and UNC at Senapati district HQ on June 30, said it was an unreasonable stand of the state government.
The president said, there is no reason for the state government to take part in the talks between the Centre and the UNC, alleging that the UNC is a frontal organisation of the NSCN-IM which is trying to break the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The UNC had declared severing all political ties with the Manipur government.
Further in the eye of the law, the UNC is an outlaw organisation as Gauhati High Court, in one of its ruling, had issued arrest warrants against its leaders.
He insisted state Chief Minister to review the cabinet decision and to take a resolution not take part in the talks.
He should also urge the Union home ministry to abandon talks with the UNC.
The AMUCO reacting to the quit notice served by "Naga Crusader" said that the apex body is against it and will leave no stone unturned to prevent translation of the notice into work.
AMUCO is against a policy which would make people refugees in their own land, astatement signed by its publicity secretary NC Modhuchandra said.
It asserted that if the notice is translated into work, both the hill and people will be rendered refugees in their own land.
The statement further said the quit notice was part of a strategy to break the integrity of the state indulged by vested interests.
The statement suggested Naga based bodies to inquire into the report and make a clarification to the people at the earliest as the report may lead to building communal tension in the state.
The statement of the AMUCO also drew the attention of the government to take appropriate action to prevent from any untoward communal clashes in the state as a result of the quit notice.
