Jayantakumar inaugurates DEIC and Palliative Care Unit in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, August 21 2019:
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar inaugurated a District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) and a Palliative Care Unit at District Hospital, Ukhrul today.
Speaking at the inaugural function as the chief guest, the Minister maintained that it is the responsibility for all to streamline and establish a good health care system in the State.
He said that a mother can make an infant/child a healthy only when the health care service functions at its best.
The State Government has been more focusing towards boosting the health sector because people cannot live happily without a good health.

The Government has opened a good number of Health and Wellness Centres in most of the districts for the well being of all the people, he added.
He also maintained that the aim of the health department is to reduce the mortality rate.
Appealing to the staff to perform their duties with sincerity, he said that the health benefits provided by the Government should reach the needy ones.
The Minister also sought public cooperation and suggestion in any area related to health-service and its improvement.
Early Intervention Centre provides health services to support children from 0-18 years in a holistic manner, addressing defects at birth, diseases, deficiencies and those with developmental delays or disabilities, the Minister added.
He said that it is an approach to improve the quality of life of the patients suffering from life-threatening illness by means of early detection.
The Health Minister also mentioned that necessary materials for the centres would be provided while some sophisticated machines and equipments would arrive soon.
Jayantakumar appealed the doctors and staff of Ukhrul to raise awareness to the public about the facilities available at DEIC and Palliative care Centre.
Meanwhile, MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam who attended the function as the guest of honour expressed that the problems and issues regarding district health care concerns with shortage of specialists, equipments that are indispensable amenities of the hospital.
The health minister visited the patients and interacted with them and distributed walking sticks to the elderly patients as well.
Director NHM Dr Manikanta assured that health and wellness centres of Ukhrul district would be operational and functional immediately so as to provide primary health services at the far flung remote area villages.
The inaugural function was also attended by Alfred Kanngam Arthur, MLA, Ukhrul Assembly Constituency and S Manikanta, State Mission Director, National Health Mission, Manipur as president and guests of honour respectively.
Chief Medical Officer, Ukhrul, doctors, nurses and staff of district hospital along with NHM officials and staff were also present at the function.
