DCs' role on SSA works, RTE stressed

A State Level Workshop on Right to Education (RTE) Act was organized by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), State Mission Authority, Manipur at Hotel Classic here today.
The function was attended by Moirangthem Okendro, Education Minister and Suman Singh, Project Director of SSA, State Mission Authority as Chief Guest and President
respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister M Okendro said that the District Commissioners of the state play an important and pivotal role in speeding up the works of SSA.
The government is also trying its level best for the improvement of SSA in the state.
We all need to come together and develop the education system of the state.
The Minister further informed that the State government is giving emphasis on improvement of education in the state by filling the vacant post of teachers.
Recently, the State government has given appointment orders to around 1900 Primary teachers.
These teachers would be posted in all the required places wherever necessary.

Delivering the Presidential address, Sumant Singh stated that all children below the age of 14 years have the right to get free and compulsory education under RTE Act.
There are various ways in which children are taught to learn in schools and so every effort should be made to ensure all the children avail these opportunities.
C Ramakrishnan, Technical Support Group, SSA, New Delhi, who was also present on the occasion, spoke highlighting the various provisions given under the Right to Education Act.
Later, a technical session was conducted during which various resource persons shared their opinions on effective implementation of Rights to Education Act in Manipur.
The function was also attended by DCs of Tamenglong and Churachandpur and the officials of SSA and Education Department.
