Angry locals close Moirang Lamkhai bridge road for 30 minutes

Bishnupur, June 20 2019: Denouncing the snail's pace in widening Moirang Lamkhai bridge and repairing of Tiddim road (National Highway 150), irate locals closed the road briefly for about 30 minutes today.

Speaking to media persons, the agitators said that though the construction work was taken up for the convenience of the commuters, the inability of the authority concerned to finish the task on time has created untold misery and inconvenience to the commuters as well as the locals of Moirang Lamkhai.

The work for widening the bridge at Moirang Lamkhai by 5 feet on each sides began in February last but has not yet completed properly, said the locals.

Angry locals thronged the bridge and blocked the road for about 30 minutes before Moirang Police SDPO Shivakanta intervened and reached an agreement with the public to call off their agitation.

Meanwhile, the locals warned the Government and authority concerned of intense agitation if the construction works are not completed within 25 days.
