2nd National Mime festival concludes

Imphal, April 20 2022:
The 2nd 5 days National Mime festival organised by the Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory under the aegis of North Easter Council, Shillong, Ministry of DoNER was concluded today at the complex of the Kanglei Mime Theatre at Langthabal Kunja.
The festival shows participation of mime groups from Manipur, Assam, Bihar, Mizoram, West Bengal and Rajasthan.
The closing ceremony was held with Budha Chingtham, playwright and critic and A Joychandra Sharma, architect as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Budha Chingtham said the unique tradition of Lai Haraoba is a storehouse of performing arts which has various elements of music, drama and mime which are all correlated.
There are specific elements linked to formation of body parts shown in Lai Haraoba, he added.
He also stretched on the need to develop and preserve this unique tradition.
'Nongdol Maibi' written by Budha Chingtham, directed by Prashanta Moirangthem and played by artists of Khangjeng Repertory Theatre was shown during the last day of the 5 days National Mime festival.
