Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and Apunba Iramdagi Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) will hold a people's conference under the theme "Question on the future of Manipur" on August 21 at GM Hall regarding the ongoing demand for enforcement of ILPS in the State.
The decision to hold the conference was taken during a joint meeting convened yesterday, said DESAM president Moirangthem Angamba while briefing media persons today at DESAM office.
He said that a five-member committee "Committee for Consolidation Campaign for Implementation of ILPS" was also constituted during the joint meeting.
"The conference will discuss on the degradation of the status of Manipur from a free Nation to one of the States of India and its impacts on the indigenous people of Manipur and response of the State Government and Central Government to the people's movement against demographic invasion," he added.
The meeting will also discuss on the "Ethno-centric politics in Manipur and peace accord between NSCN(IM) and Government of India", "Exploitation of the rights of the ethnic-Indians to direct political partition" and "Rights of the native people of Manipur to decide
its own future" .
The president urged organisations and groups concerned not to impose any bandh or strike on the day.
