Imphal, June 19 2012:
Apart from political empowerment, India government would not have no other solution to the demand of the Nagas in Manipur for 'alternative arrangement' for a separate administrative unit for the Nagas, President of United Naga Council (UNC) Adani Mao has observed.
In an exclusive interview with Hueiyen Lanpao at Senapati H/Q, Adani Mao said that there is no change in the decision taken for political empowerment of the Nagas during the Naga People's Convention on July 1, 2010 .
So, UNC in collaboration with various Naga bodies would continue to launch various intense agitations until the demand for separate administrative unit for the Nagas is met.
Adani explained that the demand for 'alternative arrangement' has come about as the Government of Manipur has been trying to suppress the Nagas and their issue from time to time.

After India Government pointed out the need for a dialogue over the table, a tripartite talk involving India Government, Manipur Government and Nagas was convened for the first time on September 21, 2010 .
The second tripartite talk was held on December 13, 2010 and the third on June 30, 2011.To continue the dialogue, Ministry of Home Affairs sent a written missive for convening another round of meeting on June 30, 2010.But so far there has been no response, Adani lamented.
If the Government of India does not take up necessary steps towards fulfilling the demand of the Nagas, the Nagas would discuss the further course of action to be launched in this regard, he warned.
Seth Shatsang, General Secretary of ANSAM, contended that the move of ANSAM and other Naga bodies led by UNC is highly reasonable and constitutional.
So, the Government of India should consider the demand for alternative arrangement for the welfare and betterment of the Nagas.
It would be wiser on the part of the Government of India to know that Nagas would not remain silent if their demand for 'alternative arrangement' is sidelined, Shatsang warned.
