Rumour of resurfacing boat goes viral

Imphal, October 18 2012: As the rumour about resurfacing of an ancient boat at Hiyangthang Nambul river bridge goes viral today morning, around 2000 people turned up to witness it, but they have to return home disappointed as nothing show up.

However, in the process, vehicular movement in the area remained disrupted for around 4 hours.

According to local people, a group of around 15 Amaibas and Amaibis came and started performing rites since early morning saying that an ancient boat which was submerged in Loktak lake during the burning of sacred Puyas will emerge today at the spot.

As the rumour spread, people from across the state rushed in to witness the floating up of the boat, thus causing a traffic jam.

As the boat did not surface even by noon, some irate people started scolding the Amaibas and Amaibis who were seen arduously trying to pull out a supposed boat from the river.
