Bishnupur district branch of Central Bank of India (CBI) has been opened today at the district headquarters with Deputy Commissioner (Bpr) Jason A Shimray and CBI Regional Manager AD Srinivash as the chief guest and president of the simple inauguration programme.
Bishnupur district police SDPO Hopson and Senior Manager of CBI Imphal branch Ambition Seram also graced the event as the guests of honour.
Conceding that inspite of India being one of the fastest growing economies in the world the rural population continue to be deprived of economic growth, Jason Shimray said 'financial inclusion' has become a necessity for improvement of the rural economy.
Noting that Bishnupur district has tremendous potential for development in dairy and fish production sectors, the DC exuded confidence that opening of more financial institutions and extending loan facilities will enable the district farmers enhance productivity.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambition Seram conveying CBI's goal for atleast a branch in every location of the State as part of the Government's policy to ensure every family has a bank account in a nationalised bank, informed that the Senapati branch would be launched tomorrow.
