Webinar on victim compensation under POCSO Act held

Chandel, August 17 2021: The District Legal Services Authority, Chandel (DLSA) in association with Childline Chandel, CWC, Chandel and CWG, Chandel organised a webinar on Victim compensation under POCSO Act - "Role of the CSOs, NGOs, PLVs and Panel Lawyers in identification of victims and assistance in availing Compensation Award".

The programme was attended by panel lawyers, PLVs, representatives and members of NGOs, CSOs and people from various walks of life, said a statement of DLSA Chandel.

Giving the keynote address, Hechin LH Haokip, Chairperson CWC Chandel highlighted the importance of victim compensation in the Districts (Chandel and Tengnoupal) .

Resource person, Tolen Potshangbam, Advocate, apprised the participants on the procedures of identification of the victims and the process for assistance on availing the Compensation Award.

During the discussion hour, many concerns were raised by participants.

They sought answers on how, when and the proper channel to claim and avail the Compensation Award.

Their queries were satisfactorily addressed by the resource person and the Panel Lawyers of DLSA Chandel.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Keishang Kopham Kanshouwa, Panel Advocate, DLSA Chandel.
