'Draft stringent State policy against substance abuse'

Imphal, June 17 2022:
Former Minister AK Mirabai has appealed to the authorities concerned to draft a stringent policy against substance abuse in the State.
She made the above statement while speaking at the 6th foundation day celebration of Holistic Vista SUD Treatment Centre held at the Centre's hall at Ningthemcha Karong today.
She further stated that an effective work culture and self reliance is a must to distance oneself from falling prey to drugs and intoxicants.
The former minister also expressed concern that the rampant use of intoxicants in the State is endangering the people of the State.
She maintained that use of intoxicants has become an essential feature in all the occasions whether it may be a joyous or a sad one.
Deaths owing to use of drugs and intoxicants is rapidly increasing in the State and it is high time that one starts acknowledging the adverse effects of it, she added.
In view of the various ill-effects, she urged all to stay away from drugs and intoxicants and lead a healthy and peaceful life.
Additional SP,Imphal West, Luxmi Thingbaijam also deliberated on substance abuse which has become a major concern in today's society.
