Manipur University, GIZ ink MoU for implementation of Indo-German project

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Manipur University and GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) for implementation of the Indo-German project on Protection and Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources in Northeastern Himalayan Region of India (NERAQ) .
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) of the Federal Republic of Germany, said a press note by Manipur University.
The Indian Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change is the nodal partner at Union level and the project will be implemented in the four States viz, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Assam.

The aim of the MoU is to collaborate on research and extension activities that will lead to the protection, sustainable and climate-resilient uses of fish and other aquatic resources of the North-eastern Region of India.
Dr Saikhom Inaotombi, Advisor, NERAQ Project Imphal was present from the GIZ while Vice Chancellor Professor N Lokendra Singh, Professor W Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Professor R Varatharjan, Dean, School of Life Sciences, Professor N Mohilal Meitei, HOD, Department of Zoology, Dr Rameshori Yumnam, Assistant Professor Department of Zoology were present from Manipur University side, added the press note.
