Imphal, November 16, 2012:
Taking serious note of the indefinite bandh called by the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) on all National Highways and State Highways from November 17, a ministerial level meeting was convened today.
Meanwhile, the State Government appealed to all concerned to call off the bandh.
According to Government spokesperson and Education Minister M Okendro, the ministerial level meeting discussed the Kuki State demand as well as the indefinite bandh.
Pointing out that both the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister are presently out of station, the meeting resolved to appeal to all concerned to call off the bandh.
Okendro also made a personal appeal to abort the bandh call in view of the TET exam scheduled on November 27. Already Government schools and colleges selected as venues of TET exam have been declared holiday on the particular day.
Claiming that there are adequate quantities of fuel oils in stock, Okendro appealed to all the people not to indulge in any panic buying just because KSDC has called bandh on national highways and state highways from tomorrow.
The stock position at IOC depot at present is petrol for 17 days' requirement, diesel for 19 days, kerosene for 29 days, LPG for seven days and ATF for 25 days.
