Imphal, August 16 2014 :
Demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, protest rally and sit-in-protests were held at various parts of the State today.
During the sit-in-protest, the protesters demanded establishment of a permit system which would check influx of outsiders in the State.
They said that ILP system can only protect the indigenous people of Manipur.
Absence of ILP system in the State has posed a threat to indigenous people and proved as a direct blow to their socio-economic condition.
So, a suitable legislation should be formulated so as to enforce permit system in the State to check the influx of outsiders and non locals.
Sit in protest was organised at Wangjing Bazaar in which various women meira paibi organisations and school students participated.
In the meantime, the JN Manipur Dance Academy Students' Union also organised sit in protest in front of the Academy's auditorium in which the teachers, students and staff of the academy took part.
Furthermore, the Heingang Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi has also organised sit in protest at Heingang Thangamapal Community hall in connection with demand of ILP system in Manipur.
