CPI, CPI(M), RSP and AIFB launched a joint protest against the rising retail price of petrol and diesel today at Irawat Bhavan.
The series of protest will be continued till June 30.The protest demanded controlling the price of essential items and medicines and also to relax Excise tax and VAT levied upon petroleum products.
Speaking on the sideline of launching the 15 days protest, CPI Manipur State Secretary L Sotinkumar said the price of petrol and diesel has been increased for a record 21 times to take the retail price of petrol and diesel to an all time high, while the price of the same in neighbouring countries are well lower than India's price.
He alleged that the rise in price of petrol and other essential items including medicines is caused by the BJP led Government at the centre.
