Jiribam, February 16 2019:
A team of Directorate of Information & Public Relation (DIPR) which reached Jiribam yesterday for 3 days "Internal Conducted Press Tour" to inspect the historical site and development programme conducted by the State Government at Jiribam and Cachar has began its tour this morning.
The team inspected the Letter Box (present since British rule), Ningthem Pukhri at Cachar, Lakhipur; Awa Palli, Bijoy Govinda Temple at Kamargha and the crematorium of Maharaja Churachand's father (Chaobisana) at Lalang in its first day of the tour.
Speaking by the sideline of the tour, Manipur Youth Front Association (MYFA) president, Seram Herajit lauded the inspection team led by DIPR officials for the tour at Cachar.
He then urged the State Government/concerned authorities to initiate works to repair and conserve the sites which are linked with the history of Manipur.
Though a land has been bought back to construct Manipur Bhawan at Rongpur, Silchar, no development has been seen so far, he asserted, adding that the State Government is still lending a deaf ear to the request of building a residential place for non-Manipuri visiting the State.
Later, the team visited Jirimukh and inspected Khwairakpa Irel Hiden, which is situated in the middle of Barak river.
Personnel of Jirimukh police outpost also inspected the functioning of officials who are on duty at the said river to identify passengers who travel with proper documents.
It can be mentioned that the team, which comprised 11 officials, was flagged off by DIPR Director yesterday.
