Enviro youth summit held

Enviro Youth Summit of Manipur, the first of its kind in North East India organised by the North East Centre for Environmental Education and Research washeld today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal.
The event was organised with an aim to educate and create awareness about the changing environment and conservation of biodiversity in North Eastern states of India.
Director Loktak Development Authority, Th Ibobi, State Coordinator BNHS, RK Rajan, Editor, Imphal Free Press, Pradip Phanjoubam, Scientist Manipur Remote Sensing and Application Centre RK Sunita who is also a GIS expert of SLNA and Founder E-con, Mumbai, James Mayengbam graced the inaugural function as chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
State forest department and LDA were the official partner of the summit.
Enviro seminar through three categories and an On the Spot Photography Contest were the main events of the summit.
Thangjam Reena of Nirmalabas High School, Selena Moirangthem of Vale Academy and Kshetrimayum of Kapila of Vale Academy won first, second and third places in category A of the seminar.
H Dhanashree of Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, James Thongam of Vale Academy and Babiya Moirangthem of Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School emerged first, second and third in category B of the seminar.
In category C, Ch Balbir of Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, SAngeeta Yanglem of Comet School and H Supreme of CC Higher Secondary School bagged the first, second and third positions.
Srikanth a student of 12th standard and Prosper a student of 8th standard won the first and second position of the On the Spot Photography Contest.
