Imphal, November 15 2015: Two bull-dozers and two excavators engaged in construction of road between Pangjang village and K Geljang village located within Churachandpur district but under the jurisdiction of Moirang police station were set ablaze by some unidentified miscreants at around 8.30 pm yesterday.

The miscreants threatened members of the family in whose homestead the earth movers were kept by opening 7/8 rounds of fire in the air and then they set ablaze the heavy machinery.

While the two excavators were burnt beyond redemption, the two bull-dozers were partially damaged, informed a source.

The 7.74 Kms long road was being constructed under PMGSY Phase IX by special contractor Heikrujam Manoj of Thongju Part II .

Manoj maintained that there was no instance of monetary demand or threats from any quarter.

Condemning the act of arson, he urged all concerned to explain who committed the arson and why.
