Myanmarese arrested at Chandel district

Imphal, September 15 2024: One Myanmar intruder was apprehended by troops of Assam Rifles from the jungles of Kachibung village, Chandel district on September 9, 2024.Sources said that AR troops apprehended one Thanglinkap alias Kakap (20) s/o Ngampao of Ko-lang, Khampat (Myanmar) while he was roaming in the jungle of Kachibung which is 3 Kms inside the territory of India without any document.

He was subsequently handed over to the police station concerned of Chandel district.

Thanglinkhap is suspected to be a member of the Kuki National Army and was reportedly conducting reconnaissance for the delivery of a large consignment of arms and ammunition.

Although the intruder was arrested on September 9, the arrest came to light only today.

An FIR case has been registered against the intruder under Foreigners Act for further investigation, said the sources.
