Imphal, August 14 2021:
The Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) has come out strongly against the Congress party for remaining silent when its own MLA Kh Joykisan was slandered by a columnist recently.
It may be mentioned that Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan is the chief patron member of TAKDO.
Speaking to media persons, advisor to TAKDO, Maibam Inakhunbi said that columnist Yambem Laba mentioning the Thangmeiband MLA in his article is politically charged.
Saying that the organisation will not remain silent over the issue as it has the very potential to smear the MLA's character, Inakhunbi continued that TAKDO will advise Joykisan to file a lawsuit against the columnist.
TAKDO's joint secretary, Wangkhem Lokendra, on the other hand, said that the organisation will decide on which ticket Joykisan will contest the 2022 Assembly elections.
"TAKDO is holding back in filing a lawsuit against Laba for his wild allegation as the organisation was waiting for the Congress response," he said and resented the grand old party for maintaining a stoic silence over the issue.
He also said that Congress remaining silent even when former Chief Minister O Ibobi was accused of hoarding black money at Swiss Bank is confusing.
Asserting that TAKDO will no longer wait for Congress response, Lokendra apprised that TAKDO will file a legal suit against the columnist shortly.
