Sit-ins and torch rallies held, Wabagai students form human chain against Article 371A

Students of Wabagai formed human chain while sit-in-protest were staged today at Sugnu and Kakching Khunou to protest against the effort to extend Article 371 A or any similar Act in Manipur and the attempt to alter the territorial integrity ofManipur.
Students of Bal Vidya Bhavan, Wabagai, Pole Star School, Hiyanglam Wabagai, Grace Reach Academy, Hiyanglam and Wabagai High School formed human chain in front of Wabagai Keithel along Wabagai-Mayang Imphal road to protest against the likely extension of Article 371A in Manipur.
The protest demonstration was held with the support of United Committee Manipur (UCM) jointly by Sugnu Circle Meira Paibi Thoubal District, United Women Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), United Peoples Administrative Council (UPACO), AMSU, CADA, EECHAL.
UCM president Sunil Karam, vice president Ksh Somarendro, Information and Public Relation secretary BM Yaima spoke on the occasion while shops were remained close during the sit-in-protest.
Meanwhile, a protest demonstration against Article 371 A was also held at Kakching Khunou market by meira paibis of Kakching Khunou, Umathel, Thongam and Tokpachinggi.
On the other hand, A torch rally was taken against Article 371-A which gives special status to Nagas, at the surrounding of Charangpat village, by locals yesterday.
The rally organised by Charangpat Apunba Meira Paibi Nupi Lup, under the aegis of UCM, protested against anything which can harm the interest of the State and its people, reports our correspondent.
On the other hand, a public torch rally was also conducted at Khoirom under Thoubal district against extension of Article 371 A or similar Constitutional provision to Manipur.
The rally which began from Khoirom Kangjeibung till Leirongthel Ningel, was jointly organised by Youth Development Committee (YDC) Khoirom and Khoirom Leirongthel and Malom Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, UPACO, CADA, AMSU, Thoubal District United Women Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), EECHAL under the aegis of UCM.
