The rising cases of rape, sexual abuse and harassment, torture and other forms of ill-treatment towards women all over the country is an attestation to the lack of real concerns, sincerity and efforts to improve the situation, they added.

It may be noted here that 'One Billion Rising' campaign has been initiated by playwright and activist Eve Ensler, known for her play "The Vagina Monologues" and her organization V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.
According to Eve Ensler, V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations.
V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sex slavery.
