Ukhrul MLA visits COVID Care Centre at TK Woodland

Ukhrul MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam today visited TK Woodland to take stock of the COVID related measures taken up there.
It may be mentioned that a COVID Care Centre, which is managed by Ukhrul district hospital was recently established at TK Woodland to treat Covid-19 patients of Ukhrul districts.
According to reports from the centre, at least 64 persons who were declared COVID-19 positive are housed in the centre.
The visiting MLA held an interactive session with the medical staff and the returnees lodged at the Ukhrul COVID Care Centre.
Alfred patiently listened to the problems and hardships highlighted by them.
The inmates asked the visiting MLA to supply more nourishing food to boost their immunity and in response, the MLA supplied Vitamin C, Calcium and Iron tablets etc to them.
The MLA also cleared the doubts of the newly recruited medical volunteers who are stationed at the centre regarding their remuneration.
According to them, at least 10 persons for Ukhrul and 6 from Kamjong districts have been recruited so far.
The shortage of workforce in the centre is another problem, stated one of the health volunteers, adding that they are also forced to arrange and distribute food, water, tea etc.
Meanwhile, the MLA assured to provide another generator, mosquito nets for inmates, construct additional toilets and shingle some portion of footpath for the COVID Care centre from his end.
Alfred A Kanngam also assured to discuss the problems in the centre with DC and CMO, Ukhrul during a meeting of Ukhrul COVID-19 Management Committee of 44-AC.Saying that he will visit the centre frequently to understand to avert any inconveniences, Alfred said that TrueNat machine is also installed in the district to enhance COVID detection in the district.
Before concluding the visit, the MLA handed over fruits, juices and non-veg food items for the centre.
