Cable car service at Baruni hills soon: Shyamkumar

Imphal, March 13 2018: Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar has informed that cable car service will be made available soon from Andro to Khallong and Khallong to Naharup Pangong.

He said that the service will help the pilgrims, even the senior citizens, who desire to visit the Chingoi Baruni Mahadeva (Nongpok Ningthou) at Nongmaijing Ching (Baruni Hills).

He was speaking atthe inauguration of 'Lainingthou Shanglen' at Chingoi Baruni, Andro Langmaiching today in the presence of Ch Gandhar Meitei, Village Headman of Andro.

Minister Shyamkumar said that he has consulted with the Chief Minister regarding the cable car service.

The proposal will be sent to Ministry of Tourism soon to help increase the economy and development of the area, he added.

Announcing that the place will be developed as a tourist and pilgrimage centre, he said that people can view various places of Imphal and other locations from the hill top and enjoy the scenic beauty.

He further informed that Forest Department will open an office in the area to preserve the environment and various plants will be planted.

Later the Minister inspected the forest areas.
