The Senapati District Teachers Association (SDTA) in collaboration with Council of Teachers Association (COTA) today staged a sit-in protest in front of ZEO office, Senapati, demanding rectification of ROP-2019 and implementation of 7th Central Pay in toto.
The protesters chanted slogans in unison such as "No rectification, No rest", "We demand 7th Central Pay", "We can't accept ROP-2019", "Abolish AGP, adopt GP system" and "School Fagathansi, Ojasingee paysu fagathansi" during the protest.
In a press statement issued by SDTA, it stated that the teachers strongly condemned the negative attitude of the Government towards the teacher's community despite being the nation builder.
The ROP-2019 is nothing but discrimination and an insult to the teachers' community.
Instead, the Govt should address the grievances of the teachers' community for the welfare of the children and society.
The teachers' community firmly believe that the present Govt will fulfil the demand at the earliest, it said.
The statement warns that failure on the part of the Government would invite more intense agitation in future.
Chandel: Endorsing Council of Teachers' Association(COTA) movement, Chandel District Teachers Association (CDTA) also staged a sit in protest in front of Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School, here, today.
The protest demonstration participated by different teachers from Tengnoupal and Chandel districts displayed placards reading "Rectify ROP-2019 to stop agitation", "Abolish AGP adopt GP system", "Teachers mould future generation" and 'Don't discriminate teachers through ROP-2019 .
Speaking to media persons, one of the teachers, Serto Apao appealed the State Government to rectify ROP-2019 at the earliest.
Asserting that the State Government is not giving any positive response though the executives of COTA had submitted ultimatum as well as a memorandum on numerous occasion, he added that the step-motherly treatment of the State Government towards the teachers is very unfortunate.
Instead of increasing the salary of teachers, ROP 2019 has pushed down the salary of teachers, he said and cautioned of launching stern agitation if the ROP-2019 is not rectified at the earliest.
