ATSUM welcomes ECI's decision

Imphal, February 12 2022: The All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has welcomed and expressed appreciation to what it called the "right act" of the Election Commission of India (ECI) for revising the date of poll of the election to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

It can be mentioned here that the ECI had rescheduled the polling date of the first phase which falls on a Sunday (February 27) to another date.

"The positive response of the ECI to the call of the people to respect the practice and sentiments of minority Christians in the state of Manipur is candidly valued", the ATSUM said.

Significantly, the ATSUM also acknowledged the political parties, politicians, All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), civil society organizations and individuals "for asserting the rights of minority Christians in one voice and one accord with the principle of upholding secularism in the country" .
