Youth Festival begins at Kangshang

Imphal, December 11 2012: A two-day State Level Youth Festival, organised by Department of Youth Affairs and sports, commenced from today at Kangshang, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex with Special Secretary (YAS) H Deleep Singh and YAS Joint Director Kh Pramoda Devi gracing the opening ceremony as the chief guest and functional president respectively.

Stating that youth festivals provide a platform to the talented youngsters to display and compete on human element, H Deleep in his address observed that inspite of glorious achievements by Manipuri sportspersons at the national level and there is still need for more concerted effort produce more sportspersons of the calibre like MC Mary Kom to put Manipur on level terms with the best in the world.

He also conveyed that performances at the State Level festival would be the basis for representing Manipur at the national level festival and Republic Day functions.

Deleep also prevailed upon the festival participants to capitalise on the event for interacting and understanding one another.

According to Kh Pramoda Devi, the festival is being participated by 400 youths from all the nine districts of Manipur.
