Imphal, July 11 2024:
Four Dhanamanjuri University students partaking in the ongoing relay hunger strike were admitted to JNIMS hospital today.
The relay hunger strike was launched by undergraduate, post graduate and PhD students of DMU from July 9 against non-appointment of regular Vice Chancellor, Registrar, non-teaching staff as well as improper functioning of the University for the last six years.
Speaking to media persons, Kiran Huidrom, social & cultural secretary, DM University Students Union said that the relay hunger strike was launched due to the failure of DMU authority to address their long-pending demandS.
On the third day of the hunger strike, four students, two girls and two boys, were taken to JNIMS Hospital due to their deteriorating health.
Lamenting the lack of response from the authorities, he said that a notice has been issued for the appointment of DMU Vice Chancellor.
However, as the appointment of Registrar and other non-teaching staff have not been addressed, the relay hunger strike will continue until all demands are met, he maintained.
