Bharat Bandh cripples normal life at different districts

Normal life was affected in six AC of Bishnupur district due to Bharat Bandh called by All India Congress Committee throughout the nation to protest against the rising price of essential commodities under NDA Government while main market of the districts wore a deserted look, many shops remained close, passengers and personal vehicles stayed off the road and Government department cannot function properly due to limited attendance while many schools witnessed little attendance of students.
Members of Moirang Block Congress Committee, Moirang Block youth Congress committee, Mahila Congress Committee led by ex-MLA Moirang AC M Prithivraj blocked the road at Moirang Lamkhai and Moirang Keithel area.
However, medical emergency cases, religious ceremony, utility work related to electricity and water were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
During the protest, ex-MLA M Prithivraj said that the Bharat Bandh is not against anyone but against was the dictatorship style of governance of NDA Government led by Narendra Modi and added that the protest was observed to show resentment against the soaring price of Petrol, Diesel, Gas and other eatable and essential items which has increased to an alarming rate.
In Kwakta, chairperson Md Maheruddin KWAKTA Municipal Council along with Congress Councillors and Congress workers under Moirang block congress committee took to street and blocked road at Kwakta Bazar while Kwakta market wore a deserted look.
In Bishnupur AC, women members and youth under Bishnupur Block Congress Committee, Bishnupur Block Youth Congress Committee and Bishnupur Block Mahila Congress Committee supported the bandh by blocking the roads at Bishnupur, Ningthoukhong, Thinungei, Potshangbam, Upokpi and Nachou Panthong while incident of altercation between the protestors and police were also reported in these areas.
In Nambol AC, Nambol Block Congress Committee, Youth Congress and Mahila Congress jointly supported the Bharat Bandh and blocked the roads.
In Oinam AC, former MLA Dr I Ibohanbi along members of Oinam Block Congress Committee, youth Congress committee and Mahila Committee came out in full support of the bandh and blocked the roads and the area around Oinam market.
In Kumbi, Kumbi market remained close and passengers stayed off the road.
In Thoubal district the Bharat Bandh was observed in various places of Thoubal.
Bandh supporters came out to the street since morning and blocked National Highway-102 along Imphal- Moreh at Wangjing market and stopped many vehicles plying on this route.
The bandh supporters burnt tyres on the highway near Thoubal Athokpam and at the gate of Thoubal College in Thoubal Okram.
