Imphal, May 09 2016:
Sky Hospital for the first time performed a com-
plex coronary angioplasty and stenting (PCI) on Lucy Hungshi
(54) of Poumai Colony on Saturday.
Addressing a press meet today at Sky Hospital, Dr L
Shyamkishore, chief cardiologist of Sky Hospital said Lucy
developed severe heart failure with severe left ventricular
dysfunction and post MI angina following a massive heart
attack on April 25.
Without opening of the blocked artery which caused the
heart attack and heart failure by Balloon Angioplasty with
stent or coronary artery by-pass graft (CAGB) surgery, Lucy
was left with little chance of survival.
The Balloon Angioplasty with stent was carefully per-
formed and the procedure gave an excellent result with
complete restoration of free blood flow to the failing heart.
The patient is making speedy recovery and was discharged
today, he said.
Dr Shyamkishore said that patients with such
complex heart problem can now expect survival at Sky Hos-
pital where state-of-the art equipment are available.
Achan Kharei, son of Lucy also said that the equipment
and sacrificial spirit of the doctors at Sky hospital are a matter
of pride.
