Drugs worth Rs 2.8 Cr seized

Imphal, January 09 2020:
Troops of Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (South), seized drugs worth approximately Rs 2.83 crore from Khudengthabi Check Post, Tengnoupal district, on January 7 .
A statement issued by the PRO of Assam Rifles conveyed that on the said day, the troops at the check post stopped a suspicious grey Eeco Van which was moving from Moreh towards Imphal.
The vehicle was driven by one Manlun Haozalian Zou (35) of Machi village, Chandel and there were two passengers inside the car, namely Lhunkholal Lhundim (30) of Khotlenphai village, Chandel and S Sundaywon (48) of Salemram village, Chandel.
On checking the vehicle, around 904 grams of suspected brown sugar and 206 grams of suspected heroin, worth a total of Rs 2,83,80,000 in the International market, were seized.
The contraband items and the apprehended individuals were later handed over to Moreh PS for further investigation.
