Imphal, January 09 2015 : Demanding that the road from Lamkhai to Thoubal College be repaired, Thoubal College Students' Union today launched a blockade along Imphal-Moreh road and paralysed normal traffic.

At around 10.30 am, the Students' Union, Wangmata meira paibi members and students of Ruda Academy moved towards the highway and barred vehicles from passing through.

Thoubal police team led by DSP(Ops) Sankerdev rushed to the site to control the situation.

After the matter was discussed between the police team and the protestors, normal traffic resumed on the highway at around 1.30 pm.

Speaking to media persons, Thoubal College Students' Union secretary general Rojit said that the students will continue to protest until their demand is met.

As part of the agitation, the Union will boycott the ongoing 3rd semester examination under Manipur University.

In case the authority concerned fails to initiate the road constrcution work by January 15, blockade along Imphal-Moreh will resume, he added.
