Imphal, August 08 2015 :
Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) today said that the suspension of six police constables in connection with the killing of Sapam Robinhood after one month by the Govt is not satisfactory.
In a statement, the JSCC categorically questioned why the State Govt has been giving protection to guilty police officers.
The JSCC without mincing words, said that the Home Dept's weakness lies in its failure to take punitive action against police officers involved in the killing of Robinhood.
As such, the Home Minister should step down from his post on moral ground.
The JSCC also slammed Education Minister for maintaining stoic silence over police brutality against girl students which happened right in his office corridor.
It said that the Education Minister has not uttered a single word when girl students were manhandled by the police personnel including the OC of City PS few days back.
The Govt should withdraw security forces from educational institutions and immediately ensure the right to live, right to freedom and right to education, the JSCC demanded.
The Govt should also be aware that the students do not have any hesitation to make the extreme sacrifice for the protection of indigenous people of the State, the JSCC conveyed.
