POCSO: 65-year-old man remanded to police custody

Imphal, May 08 2024: Special Court POCSO Imphal West has remanded a 65-year-old man from Ukhrul to police custody till May 9 in connection with two different cases of sexual assault and molestation of his daughters. The accused person's current residence is a quarter in Imphal West district.

He was produced before the Special Court POCSO Imphal West today by a team of Women Police Station Imphal West along with a prayer for remanding him to police custody for two more days to facilitate smooth investigation of the case.

Investigating Officer of the case through Special PP submitted that the aunt of the victims lodged a complaint before the Women Police Station stating that her minor niece was sexually assaulted by her own biological father from February 2024 onwards on different occasions at their residence located in Imphal West district.

In another complaint lodged by the same complainant, it was mentioned that on April 19, her second niece was molested by her father and the accused continued the inhuman act against his daughter on April 23 .

Based on the reports, two different cases were registered against the accused.

He was arrested on May 3 subsequently.

Court after hearing the submission of the Special PP and IO of the case and on perusal of the case record remanded the accused to police custody till May 9 .
