Imphal, January 08 2021:
P Saratchandra, secretary of EK Higher Secondary School has urged authorities concerned to release tentative schedule for Class X and XII examinations at the earliest in the interest of the students in view of the COVID-19 pandemic that has closed schools since March last year.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at his office at Sangakpham, P Saratchandra said that the Government and Education Minister should make a special arrangement and conduct classes for the Class X and XII students for a few months adhering to Covid SOPs as the situation has improved.
He reiterated that Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has announced that the CBSE's Class X and XII examinations will be held in May and necessary steps are in place for commencing the degree courses and conducting competitive examinations thereafter.
Apart from this, many State Governments have also started preparing for the 2021 board examinations and some have even resumed classes, he added.
Appreciating the Education Minister's statement that special SOP has been made to open schools in the State and is awaiting an approval from the Government, Saratchandra urged the Government to speed up the process and enable the Class X and XII students especially to attend classes for at least a few months before the board/council examinations.
Class X students were able to attend classes for a few days before the pandemic started while Class XII students have not attended even a single class in this session.
Although online classes are being conducted, it is not effective as the actual classes in schools.
He opined that it will be degrading the quality of education if the students are made to appear the examinations without attending a single class.
Seeking the attention of the Government and authorities concerned to look into the matter, he urged the authorities concerned to release the tentative schedule for Class X and XII examinations at the earliest to make the students better prepared.
As there have been no regular classes, the students will be facing immense challenges in the examinations, he said.
