Jiribam, April 07 2019:
W Dinesh Meitei, gen secy, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO), Jiribam questioned the differential application of Indian law, under Indian Constitution, which allows the public of the 8 segments of Manipur viz Jiribam, Hiyanglam, Kakching, Wabagai, Wangjing Tentha, Sugnu, Heirok and Khangabok - in outer parliamentary election in the ensuing 17the Lok Sabha election, to cast their vote but prohibited them from contesting in the election.
"It violates the fundamental rights as Indian citizen bestowed by the Indian Constitution which provides equal rights to each citizen of India irrespective of religion, race, caste, sex and creed", he added.
He urged the public to come forward and fight for their rights provided by the Indian Constitution so that such prohibition can be repealed and the people can bear the fruit of having an elected representative MP from the respective segments.
