Imphal, January 07 2025: Imphal-Jiribam road has been blocked at multiple points mainly at Langjing from the early morning today to protest the halting of the repair work of the highway stretch.

People blocked the highway stretch by placing heavy objects in the middle of the road at Langjing and other places as they demanded immediate action from the side of the Government to resume the repair work.

Womenfolk, in large number, came out on the road in the early morning and protested against the Government by placing obstacles and sitting in the middle of the road.

Speaking to the media, a member of Langjing Women Welfare Association said that Imphal-Jiribam road, especially at Langjing has become an accident prone area.

She said that many vehicular accidents have taken place at Langjing alone as the road has been neglected without completing the project.

Saying that dust kicked from the road is also a major concern as it poses health risk to the people living on either side of the road, she urged the Government to resume the repair work on the road at the earliest.
