14th Finance Commission team arrives

Imphal, October 06 2013:
To take stock of the financial position of the State and to work out plans for the next fiscal year, a high level official team of 14th Finance Commission led by its Chairman Dr YV Reddy arrived here on a three-day visit.
The 16 members in the team have been declared as State Guests.
It may be noted here that the Chairman of the commission is in the rank of a Union Cabinet Minister.
Other members in the team included Union Finanxe Secretary Sushma Nath, Director of NIPF M Govinda Rao, Member of Planning Commission Abhijit Sen and Sudipto Munle of National Statistical Commission.
Chairman of the team Dr YV reddy is the former Governor of RBI.
The team was supposed to land at Imphal from Kohima in helicopter, but the plan was changed on account of inclement weather condition and they came to Imphal by road amidst heavy security arrangement all along the road.
They reached Classic Hotel here at 6.40 pm.
After resting for a while, the official team of the 14th Finance Commission to NT Theatre at Changangei Ucheckon to witness performance of the famous play, Mythical Surrender of the theatre group.
On the second day of the visit tomorrow, the official team would hold a meeting with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, other Council of Ministers and Government officials at the conference hall of Secretariat at 10 am to review the works taken up under the 13th Finance Commission.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister would be speaking for 20 minutes to present his views and Additional Chief Secretary in-charge of Finance would make a power-point presentation to impress upon the visiting team on the financial position of the State.
Later in the afternoon, there would be an interaction progamme between the visiting officials and the State Government officials.
During their stay, the visiting officials are also expected to meet the representatives of various political parties to listen to their views on the financial position of the State and inspect the progress of the works taken up under the 13th Finance Commission.
Wrapping up their visit, the team would leave Imphal for Delhi at around 3.35 pm on October 8 .
