Imphal, February 06 2021:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), in a statement issued today, expressed strong resentment against the recent incident wherein the alleged gang led by Raitu Chawang and Sinthuingam Kamson @ S Kamson under the command of Chujanglung (Peace) Kamei allegedly attacked the SDO Noney, Abdul Hakim on February 2, 2021 between K Sehjang and Pongringlong (Konnungjang) village, Kangpokpi district.
The motive for such an attack could not be established except for the fact that the gang commits extreme violent acts to gratify their greed, amassing public wealth by harassing Government officers and leaders, it added.
Their desire for violence is revealed by the incident that happened on February 5 near Pongringlong (Konnungjang) village, where they indiscriminately fired at a public place and highway, it added.
The ZUF condemned the heinous criminal activities of the gang and urged the State Government not to be intimidated with such violence and threats but to work out measures to prevent such groups from causing harm to the society.
No further proof is required to establish the fact that Raitu Chawang and S Kamson gang in disguise have been committing all these illegal acts with the supposed mandate of some selfish leader of Zeliangrong civil organizations, it alleged.
The ZUF alleged that all these rampant extortions have been committed with the hidden support of the self proclaimed leader of ZB(AMN).
The said leader has been misinforming the people to create communal division between the Zeliangrong people and other communities of the State.
The ZUF assured the public that they will continue to facilitate and cooperate with the public and the Government in all the development projects of the State and will strive to maintain peace and safety of the people.
Similarly, the Villages Council, Longmai area, in a statement issued today, appealed to all concerned to clarify on the attack on the officer.
The Council further urged the State Government to look into the matter and award befitting punishment to all those involved in the incident.
