Lamp lighting & oath taking ceremony held

The "Capping, Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony" of 23rd batch ANM/FHW students of Female Health Workers' (FHW) Training School, Lamphel was held at Gandhi Memorial Hall, Imphal on Wednesday.
The ceremony was organised by FHW Training School, Lamphel RD Wing Complex, Directorate of Family Welfare Services, Government of Manipur.
It was graced by Dr Chambo Gonmei, Health Services, Manipur; Dr N Hemantakumar Singh, Director, Family Welfare Services, Manipur; A Jamuna Devi, Registrar, Manipur Nursing Council and Th Sanatombi Devi, Principal, FHW Training School, Lamphel as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Chambo Gonmei highlighted the key role of nurses in developing the health sector apart from the contributions of the doctors and availability of advanced equipment and healthcare facilities.
"Nurses also play a significant role in the rural healthcare sector, often serving as the primary healthcare providers in these communities due to limited access to doctors, providing essential care like health education, preventative measures and community outreach, making them crucial for maintaining the health of rural population" said Dr Chambo Gonmei while adding that the people should acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices made by the nurses.
Dr Chambo Gonmei also urged the students who are stepping into the nursing profession to serve the patients with compassion & extreme care without any discrimination based on colour, caste or creed.
As part of the event, Th Sanatombi Devi administered the nursing oath to 40 students of the school.
Meritorious students of FHW Training School were also felicitated.
