Imphal, October 04 2013 : A one-day farmers' training programme on National Vegetable Initiative (NVI) for Urban Cluster was held today at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel under the aegis of the Horticulture and Soil Conservation District Officer, Imphal East.

The training programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and its inaugural function was graced by Horticulture and Soil Conservation Joint Director AS Ningmi, Horticulture and Soil Conservation AO L Birjit and ASMES Imphal East G Gopalchandra as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Technical session of the training programme featured presentation of papers by CAU Associate Prof Dr RK Dillip on the topic "Vegetable nursery management, cultivation with modern technology", Horticulture and Soil Conservation Thoubal DO Y Doren on "Cultivation of Mushroom", AO K Devdutta on "Organic farming, compositing methods for sustainable crop production" and CAU Associate Prof Kh Ibohal on the topic "Disease and pest management on horticulture vegetable crops" .
